Chris Gilpin received an Associate’s Degree from Daytona State College and then went on to the University of Central Florida.

He dropped out of university and started a trucking company.

Gilpin began his public speaking career while working as the Senior Consultant for the National Crime Stop Program in Florida.

He was responsible for conducting workshops and training for employees of the government as well as the private sector.

After four years in his position as Senior Consultant, in 2012, he attended a security conference where he learned about electronic pickpocketing.

    SignalVault

Chris had a great product idea but no capital; he estimated that he would need roughly $8k to launch his business.

In 2013, Chris won $7,908.50 from a $1 lottery ticket, and he used his winnings to launch his company known as SignalVault.

SignalVault is a high-tech solution to crowd hacking and electronic pick-pocketing.

This protects users from identity theft and stolen credit/debit card information by making their information invisible to hackers.

It’s a personal jammer for your bank cards that can fit into your wallet and lasts about three years without the need for batteries, charging, or activation.

    Shark Tank

Although SignalVault was already operational and was successful, urged by his family and friends, Chris decided to apply to be on Shark Tank.

In 2015, Gilpin was selected out of over 30,000 applicants and featured on one of the most-watched episodes in the history of Shark Tank.

After pitching his product, he was offered a deal with Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec for $200,000.

Immediately after his appearance on Shark Tank, SignalVault had more sales than it had received in the previous two years.

Before the show, Gilpin had been working alone from his home; once the show aired, he had to hire employees and lease an office space.

Lori Greiner believed in this product so much that she appeared on The View and said that SignalVault was one of her favorite products.

This feature caused their sales to experience a massive spike over the days after the show aired.

Though there is more competition in this field today, SignalVault is still operational and profitable.
